Depends on the cause: Ear aches can have several causes, including a wax, an external ear infection, a middle ear infection, fluid in the middle ear cavity, or other causes. Before focusing on what can be done, one must determine the cause. Best to see your doctor to get to the bottom of it.

Short/long term: In the short term doses of ibuprofen can help, as will holding a source of warm heat on that side of the head. In the long term you need to see a health care provider & find out why it hurts/get treated.
