A member asked:

I cut the tip of my 3month olds finger with dusty nail clippers and it made her bleed, can she get tetanus from this? should i see a dr right away?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe, maybe not: Any wound that opens the skin can allow tetanus spores access to create an infection. A rusty nail is a classic exposure but any cut could be a source. Good cleaning and care can help.Your baby should have had an initial tetanus shot, and would be protective but a call to the doc is worth the effort.
