Go to doctor: Umbilical hernia is a weakness in the abdominal wall around the belly button. A bulge containing fat or intestines pushes out through the weakness. You described increasing soreness when pushing bulge in. The risk with hernias is that they have the risk of becoming stuck and incarcerated. Your Dr. can send to you a surgeon for repair.

Stop fiddling!: Your soreness is probably due to your "fiddling" with the hernia Most umbilical hernias do not require repair but you could consult with a General Surgeon about this. The diarrhea is UNRELATED! Hope this helps Dr Z
