Yes: Paxil (paroxetine) can be a treatment for anxiety problems but it is not necessarily the treatment of choice. Social anxiety often has psychological factors which can be addressed with psychotherapy . This can can often be combined with various medications. There is not one fixed treatment plan that works for everyone.

Alt.behavioral: While researching meds, consider researching effective behavioral/psychological treatments: to conquer social anxiety the "gold standard" treatment is graded exposure/systematic desensitization.
