Late period: Hi, if you have been on the pill more than a month then the risk of pregnancy is very slim, but it's always nice to use condom to prevent STD.

Depends...: Typical failure rates for "the pill" are around 8 or 9%. That means, all things being equal, you have 8 or 9 chances out of 100 of being pregnant if you had unprotected sex with your boyfriend approximately 2 weeks before your period was due and he deposited sperm (which doesn't necessarily mean he had to climax). If you are late, check urine home pregnancy test.

20%-25% per year: The chance of pregnancy in any given year of unprotected intercourse is 85%. Using the pull-out method, your chances are reduced to about 20-25% per year. On birth control pills, your chances would be about 3% per year while on a Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) injection your chance would be about .3%. You can see the pull-out method is helpful but really not the best way to prevent pregnancy. Best Wishes
