Heart stops: The heart always pauses after a PVC to get back into the original rhythm that was interrupted by the premature beat. This pause is called a "complete compensatory pause" in contrast to premature atrial beats which are "incompletely compensatory". Benign PVCs, by definition, NEVER result in cardiac arrest.
