A member asked:

What is safe to take for gerd with a prolonged qt? i know that ppis can prolong the qt.

Not true!: PPIs DO NOT prolong the QT interval. They are safe. The recent safety concerns over PPIs are related to their interaction with platelet inhibitors following percutaneous intervention, not due to arrhythmias. Other safe drugs include the histamine 2 blockers like ranitidine/Zantac. Antacids (like Mylanta and TUMs (calcium carbonate) and Rolaids) are also safe.
