Can i be alergic to antibiotic tretment for eyes? i got a extrem red and swollen itchy eye after a week of tretment and had to quit treatment

Yes: It is possible to have an antibiotic-associated allergic reaction of the ocular mucous membranes (conjunctivitis), eyelid skin (dermatitis), & cornea (keratitis) after using topical antibiotics. Discontinuing the antibiotic and using non preserved tears, antihistamines (oral, & topical) & cold compresses usually is all that is necessary. Occasionally systemic steroids are needed. Yes: but the chance of being allergic to the preservative in the eye drop is even higher.
