I have a small white lump at the top of my gum above a crown. it doesn't hurt unless pressed which makes it feel tender. is this something of concern?

Yes: You need a dental exam to rule out a fistulating abscess based on what you describe. It could be of endodontic or periodontal origin, each of which involve different treatment. It also could be something else altogether so the first step is to get it looked at by a dentist.

Gingival abscess: A gum abscess usually requires treatment; otherwise it can worsen and result in the destruction of the surrounding tissue. See your dentist for evaluation and treatment ASAP.

Small white lump: Infection is the most probable cause. May be infected tooth, infected gums/bone, or both. May be tissue infection. There are other possibilities, but infection is the most probable. Please see your Dentist for differential diagnosis and appropriate treatment or referral. Infections such as these do not self-heal.
