Mode of onset: One of the basic principles of medicine is "mode of onset:" How soon, how fast, inexorably worse, worse then better, etc. While someone your age can have a herniated disc & conceivably it could not become symptomatic for a month, the likelihood of either or both being the case is mighty slim. What's more likely is that no anatomic or physiologic abnormality would be found on testing.
