Lumbar Pain: Pain produced in the leg and low back between 30-70 degrees of hip flexion is considered positive and can indicate lumbar disc herniation at the L4-S1 nerve roots. Test is more specific if ankle is dorsiflexed and the cervical spine flexed. Also consider lumber muscle strain, tightness of the hamstrings, gluteus maximus, hip capsule or a pathology of the hip or sacroiliac joints.
