Eye exam: An eye doctor can look into the back of the eye, and see if the retina is showing signs of macular degeneration, and if it is the more common dry type, or the more rapidly destructive wet type.

At doctors office: Amsler grid testing is an important tool you can use to follow for changes in your vision however, sometimes wet macular degeneration can be hard to diagnose. Routine follow up with close monitoring is important to prevent permanent vision loss.
