Steroid Injection: Typically, a long acting version of a steroid is used and is mixed with a local anesthetic to minimize the pain at the injection site and also within the joint. You should start to experience pain relief very soon after the injection. I'm not sure what your current limitations are, but after the injection, you limitations should be fewer and you should feel better.
