Stomach or colon: Your stomach is in the upper left part of the abdomen. So is the colon. Your colon makes noise when you have a lot of gas, and that is a part of the colon that goes around a corner and may trap gas. Your stomach makes noise both when hungry and when digesting food. Very loud noises may be an indication of excess gas. Can be from poor digestion, too many carbonated drinks, bacterial imbalance.
