Post tonsillectomy: I would agree that most of what you describe is fairly typical after tonsillectomy. The scabs initially form and protect the area, then as they start to fall off, there is some increased pain and sensitivity. When they fall off completely, there can be a spike in the pain, and then things start to improve.

Tonsillar scab: This may be a tonsillar stone. If symptoms persist an otolaryngologist would be best qualified to evaluate and advise you. In the meantime gargling with warm salt water is advisable. If the sore throat worsens, a throat culture is advisable. If prolonged soreness of the throat occurs, a monotest would be advisable,also.
