Ouch: Postop course after tonsillectomy is rough especially for older kids/adults. There is some literature for 'carafate' gargle and swallow and oral steroids. Ask your surgeon if he would consider giving these to you. As far as scabs... The only scare is if you have any bleeding. After you are two weeks out you should feel much better. Good luck!

Surgery: You had surgery, takes time to heal. How long ago, are you following surgeon's post-treatment directions to the letter, a have you been avoiding hot/cold/spicy/rough textured foods, have you been abstaining from alcohol, are you taking your post-surgical Meds,is your oral hygiene excellent? And the biggest question of all are you totally avoiding smoking anything? Call your Surgeon.
