Paraneoplastic: syndrome can produce neuropathy as well as other neurological problems like ataxia and abnormal eye movements. First I would characterize the neuropathy by obtaining a good quality EMG-NCS study. Then I would obtain what is called a paraneoplastic profile (blood test) which includes most serological markers. Athena Neurodiagnostics makes a good one with anti Ri / Yo / Ma / Hu / NMDA receptor / GAD
