See doctor if this: persists as you may need a decongestant or inhaler to help clear an upper respiratory condition if warranted. Otherwise, the doctor can listen to your chest and see what else is going on in relation to your throat, sinuses, and oral cavity. The exam will be helpful to determine your actual diagnosis.

?chest congestion: Sounds like you have chest congestion and the sound os air traveling through a mucus filled airway may be causing the vibration or purr sound, when sleeping, the mucus cn settle and thus upon waking be worse. This is a guess on the computer. See your Doctor to get the definitive answer and treatment. Good luck to you.
