CoQ10 is a cofactor: coQ10 is a very important cofactor found in the energy producing machinery in all our cells. This cofactor can be depleted when taking certain medications - most especially the statins for cholesterol lowering and can result in fatigue and weakness. Since it takes energy (and coQ10) to make coQ10, if the measured blood levels are suboptimal/ low then it's best to supplement with oral Coq10.
