CoQ10 is a cofactor: coQ10 is a very important cofactor found in the energy producing machinery in all our cells. This cofactor can be depleted when taking certain medications - most especially the statins for cholesterol lowering and can result in fatigue and weakness. Since it takes energy (and coQ10) to make coQ10, if the measured blood levels are suboptimal/ low then it's best to supplement with oral Coq10.

Multiple uses: Co q10 is an enzyme and antioxidant that is naturally in the body helps to fight cell aging. Some studies found it useful to be used after heart attacks, congestive heart failure, heart surgery and heart damage caused by chemotherapy. Most commonly I use it with patient with high cholesterol when they have side effects from the cholesterol lowering med as they tend to have low q10 in their bodies.
