Not uncommon: Most people with low metabolic rate will gain weight rapidly with inactivity and increased calorie intake but will yhe weight slowly by decreasing caloric intake. Suggest weight lifting to increase muscle bulk and burn more clories in addition to exercise

It takes 3500: calories to gain or lose a pound. It is much easier to eat an extra 3500 calories than it is to lose the same amount through increased activity. Walking a mile only burns up an average of 100 calories.
