A member asked:

What should a hepatitis b positive father (with a negative spouse) do before having a baby?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Test Spouse: Mom should be tested to make sure that she doesn't have hepatitis B. If mom is not immune, she should receive vaccination for hepatitis B. If mom is immune, nothing further needs to be done. If mom has HBV, she can give it to the baby. All babies the the US will receive treatment to prevent transmission if the mother is positive.
