A member asked:

How easy is it for a father to pass hepatitis c to his child?

Difficult: As it is a blood borne virus, there would have to be contact with dad's blood (or other body fluids possibly) for any spread.

Fairly easily: As long as fluid precautions are followed, and the mother has not serconverted, the child should be okay. Have him checked at age 1 year.

Depends: The virus is not a usual hitch hiker to conception. The healthy sperm are the ones doing the job. If dad infects mom, that's different. If she has an active infection during pregnancy it is somewhat likely the baby will get it. If she had it long before pregnancy, not so much. The kid would be checked after birth.
