Most antidepressants: The name is misleading. Most medications that were originally intended to treat depression can also help with anxiety disorders. SSRI medications are probably the most commonly used. Tricyclic antidepressants have more side effects but can also be very helpful in treating both anxiety and depression. Wellbutrin (bupropion) is probably better for depression and not as useful for anxiety.
