Police or shelter: The obvious answer is the police. That's why they are there. From there, they can assess the danger and arrange for social services to escort you to a proper shelter. Most of the time under an assumed or anonymous entry until the situation is sorted out. The ed is also a good place, for the same reason. Many towns have shelters for women and children, and they can also provide aid.
