Rarely Surgery: When an acute inflammatory response occurs in the sphenoid sinus, the result is sphenoid sinusitis . It is rare -- chronic sphenoid sinusitis is more common -- . Early diagnosis and treatment are essential, because the disease can be rapidly progressive and cause complications to vascular, neurologic, and optic structures can be devastating. It may rarely need surgery.

Depends...: on what you mean by disease. If you mean infection, you may need antibiotics and/or nose sprays. If you mean inflammation, you may need treatment of the underlying condition (e.g. allergy). If you mean cyst, the answer may be nothing. If you mean growth or tumor, the answer may be surgery. An ENT doctor may be able to help you.
