Metabolic disorder: Gout is a disease in which your body makes too much uric acid or does not get rid of it properly. Symptoms can include single joint pain, extreme, hot and swollen. Classically in the big toe joint. Typically triggered by certain foods that are high in purine. Talk to your PCP and discuss. If left untreated can lead to degenerative changes due to erosions of joint by uric acid.
