A member asked:

What treatment do you get for a herpes viral infection of the eye?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: If the infection is on the cornea (most common) topical Viroptic will be prescribed which is very effective for this. If the infection is recurrent, you may need adjunctive systemic antivirals. If the infection is in the back of the eye, systemic anti-virals are the only solution. So it depends on the type and history of the infection.
