Outdated exam: Prior to CT and MRI imaging of the brain was very limited. At that time air could be injected into the spinal canal and then would collect in the normal ventricles of the brain and be visible on x-rays of the skull. This stopped being performed decades ago. As a pop culture footnote, a pneumoencephalogram is shown in the movie the Exorcist.
