Lots of Options: Over-the-counter non-sedating antihistamines like Allergra, Claritin, and Zyrtec are helpful (I like Zyrtec the best). Other treatments include daily steroid nasal sprays and antihistamine eye drops. Avoidance of triggers is also helpful. If you have a cat or dog keeping it out of the bedroom is important, HEPA filters, washing cat weekly, frequent cleaning. Allergy shots can also be life-changing

Minimizing your exposure to the animal dander is very important: keeping the pet out of your bedroom, vacuuming carpet frequently, and using a HEPA filter to trap dander. You can use OTC nasal steroid sprays (fluticasone, triamcinolone) for nasal symptoms and oral antihistamines (cetirizine, loratadine, fexofenadine) for itching. Allergy shots are the best way to reduce your symptoms long-term.
