Gradual change: Typically cataracts cause a gradual change in the vision. Early on these changes are accommodated for. For example, glare is a common effect from cataract that can make driving at night difficult. With early cataracts this may be noticeable, but still tolerable. As cataracts progress, one may anxious about or even avoid driving at night. When lifestyles begin to change the cataracts are ready.

Cataracts: For the patient, most likely nothing. From the doctors stand point, there is a slight discoloration or cloudiness to the natural lens within the eye. As cataract progress, one may notice many things - Cloudiness, blurred vision, glare, halos, difficulty reading, etc.
