What can cause pain along the ridge of my eye?

Eyelid irritation: Usually pain along the eyelid margin is due to inflammation in the delicate oil glands of Meibom and Zeis. Warm moist compresses and cleansing with an eyelid cleanser pad (Ocusoft™) can alleviate the irritation. Occasionally a prescription ointment is necessary. See an Eye MD for complete examination if the above measures don't help.
