A member asked:

What are the differencesbetween promethazine and hydrocodone 7.5-500 oral solution?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Different drugs: Promethazine is a phenothiazine cousin of thorazine (chlorpromazine) that is primarily used to treat nausea and vomiting, and has a lot of antihistamine activity. It is often combined with opioids to produce both some synergy and to combat the side effects related to histamine release with many opioids. It is NOT an opioid, which is whta hydrocodone is. The '500' is acetaminophen, which is no longer in that dose.
