Auditory nerves: are the large cranial nerves that transmit sound information from the cochlea (inner ear) to the brain (specifically the inferior colliculus of the midbrain and the medial geniculate body in the epithalamus). from there sound information is processed and passed to the brain stem reticular formation, superior medial temporal lobe and other processing centers.
