Since you're quite young, I highly recommend being evaluated and advised by an otolaryngologist at a department of otolaryngology at a university hospital near you. A specialist there should have more expertise in your problem.

If you do indeed have "damage to the auditory nerve", it is important to determine the underlying cause. If it is chronic, unlikely that any known medication will help. An otolaryngologist can do audiological-otological testing to determine the need for a hearing aid.
