Have this looked: into. He needs to have a good neurological assessment and an EEG. JME (Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy) is not usually associated with a widened gait.

More info would help: Like your son's age and what you have been told thus far. In the interim, he should see a Neurologist for a thorough evaluation and creation of a long term plan that might include physical therapy and treatment for the jerks or underlying diagnosis.
