A member asked:

Is scleraderma hereditary? my mom has it and it was active when she was young, my brother & i don't show symptoms. could i get it later in life?

Scleroderma: Although we do not think of scleroderma or other autoimmune diseases as hereditary, i.e. clearly passed down from one generation to another, there is a somewhat increased risk of developing auto immune disease in your life time. However, it does not mean that you will develop scleroderma. You should have regular assessments for any unexplained symptom but you should live your life without worrying
