SCL-70 alone not Scl: The scl-70 is seen in scleroderma but if you look at the total picture - what does your rheumatologist say? The diagnosis of scleroderma is not made by having a scl-70. We see this sometimes in people who do not have scleroderma. It depends on the lab that performs the test. Very important is the rest of the criteria. What do you have that fits these. You need to discuss with your rheum.

No: By itself, the test means nothing. If you have the signs of scleroderma as diagnosed by an expert such as a rheumatologist or a dermatologist, then the scl-70 test can confirm the diagnosis of scleroderma. The value does not indicate the severity. Again, the test alone does not give the diagnosis.
