Upper airways: inflammation, can cause such symptoms, which can spread to the middle ear through the Eustachian tube, you want to see an ENT specialist for evaluation and ruling out any serious problem in that area first, especially if you are a smoker or around smokers, meanwhile, saline nasal washes and salt water gargles would help till seen, best wishes
