My daughter is really congested and has a pretty bad cough in the wee hours of the morning. i am wondering if there is anything that can be prescribed?

Needs to be seen: I'm not sure of your daughter's age but under the age of 6 no cough preparations are recommended. It is best to have her seen and get advice about the best treatment. In general keeping her room cool and not too dry is always good. Using saline drops in her nose will help with nasal congestion. Otherwise see her doctor. All the best and I hope she feels better.

Infant?: Based on the information you provided it seems she is still an infant( under 1 year old).The only thing recommended for this type of symptoms in this age group is nasal saline drops or spray along with plenty of fluids( if less than 3 months should be just her milk or Pedialyte). However if she is very young she should see her doctor ASAP or ED esp. if she is having fever or trouble breathing
