Common: Floaters are a common occurrence but usually show up in the older age population. Because they are caught up in the gel at the back of the eye, they can last for years and some never go away. The symptoms when floaters first occur sometimes overlap with those of the more serious retinal detachment, so you are right to have had them evaluated.
