Invokana: 3rd Choice: Invokana is an expensive new drug for diabetes that reduces blood sugar by increasing sugar excretion by kidney. Its expensive and not the first line of choice, start with metformin, then slowly add 2nd choice from sulfonlureas group-glucatrol, glyburide, then add meglitonides if sugar still elevated group such as prandin. Finally consider DP4 drugs like Januvia (sitagliptin). Best drug has no weight gain.
