Jaundice: This is because the liver is not longer functioning correctly and something called bilirubin is elevating in your blood stream - the side effect of this high level of bilirubin is jaundice.

Hyperbilirubinemia: Jaundice is yellowish pigmentation of the skin, the conjunctival membranes over the sclerae (whites of the eyes), and other mucous membranes caused by hyperbilirubinemia (increased levels of bilirubin in the blood).
