Anti-inflammatory : if you have no allergies or medical reason not to, consider over-the-counter anti-inflammatory and follow label directions. Continue gentle activity. If no improvement in 5 to 7 days, see your doctor for evaluation.hope this was helpful. Best of luck

Spinal Manipulation: With any spine condition, go to the expert, your Doctor of Chiropractic. Sprains and strains of the back can take 6 weeks to heal on the outside, it helps to break the pain pattern, and rehab specifically to the condition. Spinal manipulation and specific rehab are the 2 most important aspects to spinal condition treatment.

Try ice instead : try ice instead of heat as well as avoid heavy lifting and bending. stretching and massage may help. If it worsens or does not improve follow up with your doctor since you may need further testing and muscle relaxers etc.

Varies: The natural history of many back injuries is very favorable, with many episodes resolving over a 7-10'day period. If it does not get better, do not hesitate to be seen to rule out a more serious injury than a simple strain.
