It can happen: Certain viruses can cause pink eye, and it may show up later than the cold and sore throat symptoms. However, if your eye has constant yellow or green liquid drainage or doesn't improve after a few days, please see your Dr.

Sometimes: The sore throat is from a viral infection. There is a mucosal connection internally from the nasal cavities to the mucus lining over the whites of the eyes (the conjunctiva). Most cold viruses stay in the throat but a few can travel up that tube into the eye and cause a pink infection (conjunctivitis). So it is uncommon but not rare for these to occur simultaneously.

Can happen: The same virus or bacteria that causes pharyngitis can cause conjunctivitis. If you have been placed on oral abx for pharyngitis that should take care of conjunctivitis also
