A member asked:

What is this test c-peptide done for.will its high number mean stopping glimperide and low mean continuation of it.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It is not for Tx: It is not for treatment. It depends on the circumstances the test is done on, usually it helps to distinguishing type 1 from type 2 diabetes or MODY. It is also used in patient with hypoglycemic episodes to tell if the insulin is exogenous or endogenous. Its used also for other things, but mainly for diagnosis not treatment. But once the diagnosis is changed, the Tx will also change.
