It is not for Tx: It is not for treatment. It depends on the circumstances the test is done on, usually it helps to distinguishing type 1 from type 2 diabetes or MODY. It is also used in patient with hypoglycemic episodes to tell if the insulin is exogenous or endogenous. Its used also for other things, but mainly for diagnosis not treatment. But once the diagnosis is changed, the Tx will also change.
