No: Your weight gain is NOT related to your umbilical hernia but you may "appear" heavier if the hernia is large!! Get it checked out and repaired ! It can only get worse particularly with pregnancy! Hope this helps Good luck DrZ

No: The most common cause of gaining weight is eating more calories. Hernias, without question, don't cause weight gain. See your primary care provider for a more complete evaluation. Hope this helps!

No: The hernia cannot cause weight gain in and of itself. If it's causing you to exercise less because you're having pain then it could potentially be a secondary effect of the hernia.
