Possible meniscus : hi Andrew you need to be examined and imaged. Sounds like you may have a lateral meniscus tear. An X-ray is taken, will often not show anything in this situation. An MRI will be ordered if you have tenderness and popping on the joint line between the bones. If it's as bad as you describe, get an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon as soon as you can.
