Specializes in Pediatrics

No: A 2 month old who has a cough needs to be evaluated by a pediatrician. No cough medicine is advised for children under 2 years of age. You can use only nasal saline followed by suctioning.

I never do: Clean up the environment, remove dust, flagrance, make sure humidity is proper (35-45%), use nasal saline to thin secretions.Once you have done all this, you are done.I find no value in "cough" medicines in small infants.

No: These cough cold medications do not work in young children or infants. Try saline nose spray and bulb suction and a cool mist vaporizer, If not better see doctor.
