Increases risk but..: Some very large studies have recently found increased risk of heart attack in men & women & increased risk of death from heart disease in men taking calcium suups. It is thought that calcium supps can increase calcium deposits in the arteries. However, calcium helps with osteoporosis & taking vit k with calcium should prevent this problem. Calcium: There is no evidence that simply taking calcium in a typical supplemental form does anybody good. There is suspicion and some data to show that doing so accelerates pathologic calcification in inflammatory conditions,so be careful and be informed.Sometimes simplistic notions are flawed, this may apply to calcium (and other OTC) supplements used to seek immortality(!)
