Continue massage: It is possible that you have muscle spasm, a shoulder issue or cervical disc disease amongst other possibilities. See a spine specialist or Orthopedist who can make the diagnosis which may require an MRI and possibly have you start active physical therapy. In the meantime continue massage as this is helping. Once the cause is established it will be easier to trial additional treatments. Update me

Spasm: Sounds like a muscle spasm. I would take ibuprofen, apply some heat and consider seeing a chiropractor for treatment. Also a massage therapist may be helpful.

Sounds muscular pain: and using a Heat pack 2-3 times for 20-30 minutes can certainly help; with gentle, of gradually increasing durations, exercises would help. Seeing an orthopod would confirm there is no other cause for your symptoms. Taking some Aleve (naproxen) or Advil would be helpful as well.
